AI is changing the cybersecurity battlefield — but the question is: who is gaining the advantage?

I had the privilege of joining an incredible panel today for International Women’s Day where we discussed how AI is reshaping both cyber offense and defense.

A few themes stood out from the discussion:

🔹 AI is accelerating both attackers and defenders. Adversaries are experimenting with AI-assisted reconnaissance, vulnerability discovery, and even autonomous attack paths. At the same time, defenders are using AI to analyze threats faster, improve detection, and simulate adversary behavior.

🔹 Agentic AI introduces a completely new attack surface. When AI systems can access tools, APIs, infrastructure, and data, security is no longer just about protecting applications — it’s about securing decision-making systems.

🔹 AI-powered red teaming is evolving fast. AI can dramatically accelerate attack surface discovery and adversary emulation. But human creativity, skepticism, and attacker intuition remain critical.

🔹 Security guardrails for AI are becoming essential. Organizations must focus on three things: • Securing AI inputs (prevent prompt injection and poisoning) • Controlling what AI systems can access (tool permissions and boundaries) • Monitoring outputs and decisions (governance and validation)

🔹 Cyber talent must evolve. The next generation of security professionals will need to understand both security engineering and AI behavior.

Because in the AI era, attackers aren’t just hacking systems.

They are hacking decisions.

Grateful to share the stage with such thoughtful leaders and to discuss how we collectively shape secure AI innovation.
