BlackHat Europe wrapped up.
My badge is slightly bent, my notebook is full of half-diagrams and full-blown ideas, and my brain is now running on conference mode (which is basically controlled chaos).
A few candid takeaways from the week
🔹 AI everywhere — agentic AI, GenAI, “AI but with guardrails”, and also “AI but please don’t let it burn prod.” The hype is real, but so are the risks—and the conversations are finally getting more honest.
🔹 Tooling ≠ security (still). Amazing demos, shiny dashboards… and then the real talk: identity, authorization, context, trust boundaries. Same fundamentals, just wearing an AI hoodie now.
🔹 Hallway conversations > slides. Some of the best insights came between sessions: “Wait, how are you actually doing this in prod?” and “Yes, we learned that the hard way too.” Collective therapy, but make it technical.
Also: ✔️ Reconnected with old friends ✔️ Met new brilliant minds ✔️ Left with more ideas than time ✔️ Carried back at least one questionable swag item
Big shoutout to the speakers, researchers, hallway mentors, and community folks who keep this space curious, critical(the best combo).
Now heading home inspired, slightly exhausted, and ready to turn conference insights into real-world action.
