We check the label before we eat something. Ingredients, allergens, what’s actually inside. Then we paste company data into an AI tool without reading anything at all.
Before you feed any AI tool your data, four questions are worth ten minutes: • Does it keep my data? Some tools store everything you type, long after the session ends. • Does it train on my inputs? What you paste today could shape what the model says to someone else tomorrow. • Does it ask for extra permissions? A tool that needs access to your files, email, or contacts for a simple task is asking for more than the job requires. • Can I delete it? If there’s no clear way to remove your data, you never really had control of it.
The answers are usually in the privacy policy and the settings page. Nobody reads either one, which is exactly why this is the cheapest security check you can run.
