Perplexity just made a serious move in the agent wars. They’ve launched Perplexity Computer and this isn’t just another chatbot wrapper. It’s a full-blown, cloud-native multi-model agent system.

Here’s what makes it different   • 19 AI models running in parallel  • Each model handles what it does best:  • Claude Opus 4.6 for orchestration + coding  • Gemini for deep research  • Grok for fast, lightweight tasks  • ChatGPT 5.2 for long-context reasoning  • Nano Banana for images

Why the timing matters, We’re seeing ToS friction across the ecosystem. Some flat-rate Claude or Gemini accounts connected to local agent systems are getting restricted. If your stack depends on stitching together third-party APIs, one policy shift can break everything overnight.

Perplexity’s approach? Fully managed infrastructure. They control the orchestration, integrations, and uptime.

We’re no longer asking “Will agents replace workflows?”

We’re now asking: 👉 Who controls the stack? 👉 Who owns the orchestration layer? 👉 Who absorbs the policy risk? 👉 And how secure are these autonomous systems really?

The agent era isn’t coming. It’s here.
